Tonight’s workout was a 45 minute Peloton workout featuring some 2000’s classics! For those of you who don’t know me very well, I actually really don’t care for cycling. I did one class a few years ago at a CycleBar and thought it was tough, but kind of cool. My second class was at a Soul Cycle in 2019 and I hated every second of it. It could have been the instructor or the music or the fact that we were in the dark, honestly so hard to pinpoint. After that class, I officially wrote off cycling. Fast forward to 2020, living in a world that requires working out at home over in person at gyms and specialty studios and I find myself with a peloton in my dining area instead of a kitchen table. I am here for all of the classes- the cycling part though, we have a love-hate relationship.
Equipment– Thankfully this one doesn’t require much – just a bike! If you have a road bike you can put it on a stand and just download the app! Right now you can get a Free 30 Day Trial for the App. I highly recommend trying it out – I do most of the classes on my TV or laptop!
My two friends from high school have been wanting to ride together for a while so we decided tonight was the night! They voted for a 45 minute ride while I would have been perfectly content with a 30 minute ride LOL. We have only had the bike a few months, but if you recall, cycling isn’t really my strong suit. I only had done one other 45 minute workout prior to tonight and I felt like death the entire time. They were all in so I had to be as well.
As I mentioned, we decided on a 2000’s Ride with Hannah Frankson featuring all of the classics from our teenage years. For those of you who don’t have the app yet – Peloton has various instructors so you can mix and match or take classes just with your favorite instructor. Hannah Frankson was actually the person I did my beginner class with for my very first ride so she will always have a soft spot in my heart. She is calm and encouraging which personally I LOVE during a ride.
I was a little surprised to find a 9 minute warmup but I don’t typically do these 45 minute rides so maybe that is actually standard? After breaking through the longest warmup, I was ready for the class to be over. Remember, I did that killer 15 Minute Fat Burner Workout with Athlean-X last night – so sore before I even started today’s class. My favorite part of this workout is actually watching the time go down on the bar at the top HA! Once I got into a bit of a rhythm I was feeling better. Don’t get me wrong, I was still sweating bullets and felt exhausted, but just kept pushing through watching that countdown!
Overall Rating: I enjoyed the music and it was so much fun to workout with my friends (you know like we used to do in the year 2019). Hannah was very encouraging the entire ride and even threw out a few dance moves (one day I’ll get there too between all the sweating and dying). I have no idea how they talk so much while working out, very impressive. Despite being anti-45 minute workout, I hit a new PR and had a great time with my friends, all in all, not so miserable after all.
If you have been putting off those longer rides, this one is definitely worth a shot! Challenge yourself to kick it up a notch! It is always worth it!

PS – Temperature by Sean Paul kicked off the actual workout after the warm-up. My middle-school self was so hyped.
