Comfort Clothes

Happy Monday! You either feel the happy Monday or you think people who say happy any day of the week are nuts. I used to be the latter, and honestly that’s how I felt when I rolled out of bed this morning. We got back pretty late from our weekend away and I just didn’t want to get up when my alarm went off this morning. It was rainy and gloomy outside, quite the contrast to the beautiful weather we have been having. I knew I was in need of a comfort outfit.

What did you wear today?

I am going to start by saying that I am a lover of vests. The closet is filled with casual lightweight vests, down-filled vests to pair with a quarter zip, some more active than casual vests, some puffer, and outdoor and indoor vests. I’m not sure when exactly I discovered my love of the vest, but I’ve never looked back. In fall and winter, I even wear a vest over a sweater at least twice a week. Upon seeing this gloomy weather, I knew I would be reaching for a sweater and a vest today. Very similar to reaching for comfort food.

Comfort Clothes Old Navy
Yes my clothing stayed on until after dinner tonight. So rare.

I grabbed one of my favorite sweaters from Old Navy and topped it with a navy vest. Matched it with another pair of Blank NYC Jeans (guys, I’m not even sure how many pairs I own at this point) and grabbed my short rain boots. I don’t mess with walking around the city in anything but rain boots when its raining here-way too risky!

Comfort Clothes Monday Syracuse
Nothing is cozier than a worn-in teeshirt and warm leggings. Note the uggs nearby. Maximum coziness alert.

Post dinner, I FINALLY put my cozy clothes on around 9pm. I found my favorite Syracuse long-sleeve tee- yes it’s green and yes it’s extremely worn-out. For those of you who don’t know, Syracuse is where I went to school. I discovered post-college that I owned A LOT of orange clothing which really sticks out in NYC. My orange stash has been slowly diminishing, but I’m hanging on to my faves of course. I grabbed yet another pair of leggings from the drawer – I really have more pairs than I think I do. This time I went for a cozy, brushed, heathered pair that I usually wear playing winter football. It’s not winter and I am not playing football, but it felt the exact “comfort outfit” that I’ve been craving all day.

What did you donate?

Ivory Ella Long Sleeve Tee

Today I said goodbye to an Ivory Ella long-sleeve tee. Ivory Ella is an organization that donates 10% of profits to Save the Elephants. The company has donated over $1.9 million dollars to Save the Elephants and other charities with similar missions. Fun fact, elephants are my favorite animal!

Today’s Key Takeaway

This wouldn’t be a proper blog post if there wasn’t a key takeaway here (other than pure entertainment of course). Another place to donate clothing is the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation.

The Big Brothers Big Sister Foundation accepts clothing in good condition that will be re-sold at their resale stores. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the foundation which pairs at-risk kids with adult mentors. You can schedule a pickup online if you live in Massachusetts!

How are you cleaning your closet? Where are your favorite places to donate clothes? I’d love to hear more!

xoxo
