So apparently Ben’s mom’s side of the family isn’t Swedish, they are Polish! Since wee are spending some time with his family this week, what better time to learn some Polish language basics? I highly recommend language pod on YouTube. They have been helping me learn so many new languages this month and are super easy to follow along!

Common Polish Phrases
As always, I am LOVING the slang phrases that I have been learning all month long in each language. Checkout some of the funniest ones below:
- Owijać w bawełnę
- Literal Translation: To wrap in cotton
- Actual Translation: To beat around the bush
- myśleć o niebieskich migdałach
- Literal Translation – To think about blue almonds
- Actual Translation – To daydream
- Narobić bigosu
- Literal Translation – to make a polish stew
- Actual Translation – to mess up
- mówić prosto z mostu
- Literal Translation – To speak from a bridge
- Actual Translation – To speak blundtly
- Uciekać gdzie pieprz rośnie
- Literal Translation – To run away from where the pepper is growing
- Actual Translation- To runaway and not be seen again
One of the most interesting part of learning (and documenting) 30 different languages is seeing which ones my MacBook wants to autocorrect. Oddly enough, Polish is one of the few languages that my computer recognizes. I swear it has a mind of it’s own, but I am not complaining tonight! Until next time…
