It’s no problem (casual) –

Hello– Marhaban

How are you?

  1. Speaking to a man-  Kayfa hāluka?
  2. Speaking to a women- Kayfa hāluki?

Good-bye – Wadā’an

Be Safe (response to good-bye) – Ma’a al-salāmah

See you soon – ‘ilā al-liqā’i qarīban

Yes – Na’am

No  Lā or Kallā

Do you speak English?

  1. Speaking to male – Hal tatakallamu al-‘inklīziyyah?
  2. Speaking to a female – Hal tatkallamīna al-‘inklīziyyah?

A fun tidbit is that only Muslims use the phrase “Al-salāmu ‘alaykum” with each other. It is a greeting used to say hello and goodbye. If someone were to say that to you, your response should be “Wa ‘alayykum al-salām” which means, “peace be with you too”.
