Mondays are always busy and today it became even busier! I typically go into the office on Monday, run home and sneak in a workout before my Toastmasters meeting. Tonight I skipped the meeting for dinner in the city with a friend who was here from out of town. If you live in any neighborhood of Manhattan, you know that you aren’t that far away but it is mentally exhausting to drag yourself back into the city once you’re already home! This was a BIG DAY because not only did I go to the city for work, but I also went into the city for dinner. This was truly our first big night out in NYC since last February(2020)!
What did you wear today?
First off, work. I tossed on a pair of Blank NYC jeans with a gold shirt that I constantly debate donating. Topped off the outfit with a leather jacket and these cute gold sneaker wedges that happen to match perfectly! After work, I ran home to get my workout in! I thew on a pair of Gap compression leggings with a tank top that says “Straight out of the gym”. I won’t lie, haven’t been inside of a gym in over a year. The shirt is a lie but I love a good tank with a low armhole. As someone who is a big sweater, this is a great way to avoid pit stains when working out 😂
After my workout with Beyond the Movements, I had 30 minutes to change and look not sweaty before running back to the city. Definitely would have been easier if I had done yoga or pilates as opposed to a 30 minute cardio and core class. Oh well. I threw on this cute oversized Amazon sweater and a pair of ripped Blank NYC jeans and my favorite shiny slides before running for the bus. Thankfully it was pretty warm so no jacket needed! We went to see our friend who was staying the the Marriott in Times Square – the view is AMAZING, especially for New Year’s Eve!
We found a cute dinner spot on 46th between 8th and 9th on restaurant row. The street-eatery’s that have been built throughout the pandemic here are so stinking cute! They have built these wooden structures with mood lighting and even space heaters! This made our big night out in NYC a fun one! Ben and I cannot wait for life in the city to pick up again. This little glimpse of hope reminded us of our big city living past. Those days were jam-packed with work, me-time, and socializing. There are definitely aspects I don’t miss (like being go-go-go 24/7) but I am excited to catch up with friends in person again!
Today’s Key Takeaway
Today, I don’t have any more to offer, other than to cherish these moments because once life is back in full force, you are going to wish you had the slowed-life that we all experienced during this pause of life.
xoxo
