UnfortunateIy I don’t have anything fun to share tonight about running, just how the month is going so far! Today is day 8 and we have officially passed the one week mark. After taking a hiatus from running for the past couple of months (whoops), I was pretty nervous to run every day. Thankfully starting with one mile a day has been a smooth transition.
I was prepared to be pretty sore after this first week. Thankfully that hasn’t been the case. It has been insanely hot which makes running slightly miserable but keeps your muscles nice and warm. I definitely paced the first week out with 1-2 mile runs just to get started. Thankfully the weather here should be cooling down in the next few days (and not raining woohoo) so I’ll be able to start running some longer distances which will be great!
Sign Up for a Race!
If you missed my post the other day about how to start running outside, I mentioned that you should sign up for some sort of race to keep you accountable with your training! I have my biggest race weekend the I have ever trained for coming up in October. I needed to get my but into gear so this month of 30 one mile runs is really keeping me accountable. If you are just beginning your running journey, you should try to find a local 5k within the next 2 months. A 5k typically costs around $45 on average which should be enough to hold you accountable to train and show up on race day! This goal is truly achievable and you will be SO impressed with how far you have come in just a very short matter of time.
Closing Thoughts
The funny thing about running is that you can truly push yourself to the limits. Obviously, be careful – you don’t want to get injured by pushing too hard. BUT, it is amazing to see how strong your body and mind are every time your feet hit the pavement. I hope you are loving the challenge of pushing yourself to run distances and speeds you never thought you could. I hope you are proud of yourself for running any distance at any speed.
Until tomorrow…
xoxo
