This past weekend flew by! Ben and I were excited to actually NOT be traveling this weekend. I had big plans involving deep cleaning the apartment and running. I can tell you neither of those things actually happened. I should have known on Friday night when we spent the evening relaxing on the couch watching Netflix (something we almost NEVER do) that this weekend wasn’t going to as productive as I had hoped. Talk about true weekend vibes over here!
What were you weekend vibes outfits?
This weekend only required two outfits. I’m getting impressed with myself. Truthfully I think I am getting nervous about not repeating any outfit that I am making myself stay in just one outfit per day. Plus, as mentioned above, there was no working out involved which always means more clothing.
Saturday was a friends birthday and we were celebrating on the pier. I love the pier here because it’s a big beautiful splash of lawn overlooking the city. Who doesn’t love a beautiful view of Manhattan while reading, doing a gym class, or hanging out with friends? Unfortunately, it was pretty cool out on Saturday and I was so nervous I was going to freeze on the pier! I decided to play it safe with an oversized Calvin Klein sweater, pair of Blank NYC jeans, and my famous silver slip-ons. For those of you who don’t know, I am a massive fan of anything shiny and iridescent, specifically shoes. No-one really saw my sweater though because it was chilly and I kept my packable down jacket on almost all day!
Sunday was a bit sunnier and involved another day at the pier. Ben and I picked up tacos from a local spot and had a little picnic with some friends who we hadn’t seen in a while. Since it was slightly warmer today, I opted for a new pair of Amazon leggings (who was I kidding with jeans yesterday – leggings all the way!) and a Patriots quarter zip with my Lululemon vest. If you remember my vest rant from the other day, you know its one of my go to “comfort outfits”. I know I am trying to clear out my closet and shouldn’t be buying new things, but these Amazon leggings were half priced and had great reviews. While everyone compared them to Lululemon’s Align leggings, I didn’t feel like these had enough compression to be a true workout legging. They are also squat proof, but again I am not sure that I will wear them to actually workout. I will say, the fabric is pretty soft, so still a great pair of everyday leggings!
What did you donate?
It has been a few days since I have donated anything, so I knew this weekend I need to do some clearing out. Since I decided to keep this new pair of leggings, I figured it is only fitting to donate a pair of leggings that I don’t wear anymore. I tossed the pair of Primark Leggings in the donation bag. These were also black, but the fabric was nowhere as nice as the Amazon pair.
Today’s Key Takeaway
This wouldn’t be a proper blog post if there wasn’t a key takeaway here (other than pure entertainment of course). Today’s donation suggestion is Room to Grow!
I hadn’t ever heard of Room to Grow before, but I don’t have a child so it makes sense! Room to Grow is a charity that exclusively accepts baby clothing, shoes, toys, and other gear. All of the donations go directly to low income families, free of charge. They accept all items in very good condition – no rips, stains, holes, teething marks, missing pieces etc. Room to Grow is currently only in Boston and New York. You can checkout more information on acceptable donations and how to donate here!
How are you cleaning your closet? Where are your favorite places to donate clothes? I’d love to hear more!
xoxo
