Coach Kel Barre

Have you been curious about trying Barre with Coach Kel? This is definitely the barre class you’ve been looking to try from the comfort of your own home!

My friend has been raving to me about Barre with Coach Kel for months. Even though I already worked out with Barre South, I wanted to give it a shot! Barre is one of those things that has similar techniques no matter where you go, but each studio has a different sequence for their classes. You either like how they do it or you don’t.

I’m giving you my honest review of  Barre with Coach Kel as part of the Boutique Gym series!

Who is Coach Kel?

Coach Kel is a single mom of three who is a dancer turned personal trainer. She started her online fitness studio 10 years ago, including workouts such as Barre, Sculpt, Dance, and Booty toning. Her website features a variety of workouts differing in length so you can try anything from half hour to a full hour depending on your time availability. I love that you just need internet access and you are ready to work out!

How was the Full Body Barre Class?

Coach Kel taught this class on Youtube. On her website you will find a variety of other instructors as well. As I mentioned, barre is one of those things where the exercises and techniques are relatively similar no matter where you go. However, the sequence or “Choreography” as she calls it, is what makes each studio unique.

The class started with a quick warm-up and we moved into arms, abs, and glutes. Not once did I feel the need to check how much time was left (which I am guilty of doing in most classes).  I liked the variety in exercises, Coach Kel included some exercises that I haven’t ever done before which was refreshing. Coach Kel explains all of the equipment needed for each workout in the description of her classes and at the beginning of each class.

This one required ankle weights for the glutes section, although you definitely could do it without them. I was excited because my sister gave me wrist weights that I still had yet to try. Thankfully they fit perfectly on my ankles! If you’re looking for the perfect ankle/wrist weights, I find that I always LOVE Bala Bangles for their sleek look, soft silicone feel, and flexibility of using on my ankles or wrists!

Would you Barre with Coach Kel again?

Overall Rating: I will definitely be back! I enjoyed the choreography and felt like I actually got a good workout in! I liked using the ankle weights as a little extra challenge as well. And of course, I fully support any workout with a pre and post-stretch!
