After yesterday’s baggy shirt outfit, I wanted to step up my game with a cute, more traditional office outfit. I was so excited about the beautiful weather that I almost forgot my jacket this morning! After work I had a couple errands to run before being able to go for an actual run! It’s nice to finally be feeling warmer days ahead. Feel free to skip down to my favorite must have running gear if you aren’t interest in today’s outfit!
What did you wear today?
I am going to start by saying, no shocker to you all, I put on a pair of Blank NYC jeans this morning with a lavender top. This lavender top was actually one of the few items that I purchased in 2020 and it’s quickly become a favorite! Longer tops are my favorite because they can easily be tucked for a versatile look. I broke my own rule of wearing the same shoes two days in a row (just not good for the bod) and threw on my white canvas slip-ons. It might be time for a new pair, these ones are pretty stained. Wore the same canvas jacket from yesterday and was on my way!
Blank NYC was having a sample sale today! For those of you who don’t live near the fashion industry, a sample sale is when a company clears out any samples they may have made before finalizing a product, usually testing out different fits, fabrics, or trims. A company might also sell off an entire size run per style (smilier to what you might see in a store). Sometimes a sample sale will only have the size that the company makes the styles in – this is
typically how Blank NYC does their sale. Luckily for me, I happen to wear their sample size! I know what you are thinking. You are totally correct, I don’t need anymore clothing! I am doing this month of 30 different outfits to make myself more aware of what I don’t wear so I can clear out my closet! Since I did purchase 4 items today, I will be sure to donate 4 extra items this month!
So did you actually run?
After stopping at Trader Joes to grab some very last minute supplies for tonight’s brussels sprout and lentil salad, it was finally time for my run! I am telling you the weather was absolutely PERFECT for a run – a nice 70° with a slight breeze and plenty of sunshine. I slipped into my must have running gear and was ready to go! Onto the moment you have all been waiting for…
Must Have Running Gear
We’ve finally made it to the breakdown of my favorite must have running gear! Running I can be challenging enough, knowing what to wear can be added stress. I’m skipping over my trial and errors with running gear and taking you straight to the best items I have found in my 3 years of running!
- Reebok PureMove Sports Bra– I know I mentioned this one on day 6, but I stand by my word, this is thee BEST sports bra that I have ever used for running. This sports bra actually molds to your body as you get hot from working out. As someone who has a small frame with a larger chest, I love that Reebok offers half sizes for this style for the perfect fit!
- Lululemon Align Leggings – I love any legging with pockets to hold you phone, keys, and any other liquids or gels you might take along with you. What makes the Aligns so great is that they are high waisted, don’t roll down, and have high compression. Some leggings are more budget friendly than others, but these are definitely worth the splurge
- Saucony Socks – My friends, I have experimented with socks for a LONG time. I learned that cotton socks aren’t great because they retain your sweat so easily! No-one wants blisters! I love that these socks are a little thicker to fill my shoes perfectly. Best part? They are a poly-cotton blend which means that they are keeping your feet dry by wicking away your sweat! I usually grab mine at TJ Maxx – haven’t found an online match!
- Tank Top – Just like with socks, anything that is cotton will retain your sweat. Avoid cotton when running in the winter. Cold sweat is the worst feeling and there is a high probability that you will get sick from it. Once the temperature hits 50° I make the switch from long sleeves to tank tops (there is no in between for me). I still am likely to wear a cotton tank while running (like tonight) but highly recommend a shirt with more polyester to help keep you dry!
- Asics GT-2000 8 Sneakers – I highly recommend going to a running store to get fit for sneakers. They watch you walk and can see which part of your foot you use the most when moving. Unfortunately running shoes only last about 250-300 miles before they need to be replaced. It is important to change up your shoes otherwise you could experience shin splints, pain in your feet or knees, or my personal fave, feeling too much sidewalk when running! I bought the GT-2000 8 for my last pair and will definitely be buying more. One tip would be to buy the last version of the sneaker – they don’t change significantly and are cheaper than the current model!
- Bose SoundSport Headphones– I did a lot of research before getting these bluetooth headphones. They have a clip on the wire to stay in place while active. The earbuds have never slipped out while running and have great sound. While the music is bumping, I can still hear what’s happening around which is great for city running! The battery lasts about 5-6 hours per charge. These headphones can connect to two different devices at the same time which is a bonus for everyday use!
Let me know your must have running gear! I am always looking to find new items that make running easier and more enjoyable!
xoxo
